A little bit about our background and what we do here...
Every family business has a story. Ours began in 1981 with a dream, a two-car garage, and a commitment to doing things the right way.
Doug and Ruth Blocker founded The Door & Window Store, Inc. with a simple goal: provide quality products, honest advice, and customer service that people could count on. Working side by side out of their home garage, they built the business one customer, one project, and one relationship at a time.
As word spread and the business grew, so did the need for more space. Over the years, The Door & Window Store moved four times, each new location reflecting the trust our customers placed in us and our commitment to serving them better. Then, in 2005, DWS took its biggest leap of faith yet—building a 37,000-square-foot warehouse and showroom designed specifically for our business. It wasn't just a new building; it was a promise to our customers that we were here to stay and ready to serve the future of Northern Arizona.
In 2011, that legacy was passed to the next generation when their son, J.D. Blocker, became owner after serving as General Manager for 14 years. Together with his wife and the help of the entire Blocker family, the company continued to grow on those foundations—embracing new ideas, expanding our product offerings, and investing in the people and partnerships that have made our company what it is today.
Today, The Door & Window Store and our sister company, The Trim Connection, LLC, proudly serve homeowners, builders, contractors, architects, and designers throughout Northern Arizona. Whether you're building your forever home or remodeling a favorite space, we believe every customer deserves the same attention, expertise, and care that have defined our business since day one.
More than four decades have passed since those early days in the garage, but the heart of our company hasn't changed. We're still family-owned. We still believe in hard work, integrity, and standing behind what we sell. Most importantly, we still believe that great businesses are built the same way great homes are—on a strong foundation, lasting relationships, and a commitment to quality that stands the test of time.
